Fujifilm X-Pro2 & Adobe Lightroom: an almost perfect match

Gepostet am Aktualisiert am

Bildschirmfoto 2016-02-04 um 16.35.40Adobe has improved the accuracy Fuji’s film simulations for the new X-Pro2 (available in the camera calibration box): Colors and gradation of Provia, Astia, Velvia, Classic Chrome, Pro Neg. Hi/Std, Monochrome and Acros are now an almost perfect match.

This is quite a departure from previous versions and supported cameras with the older EXR II engine, where shadow tones used to block out. The improvement applies to all newer camera models with an X-Processor Pro engine, such as X-Pro2, X-T2, X-T20, X100F and GFX 50S.

But see for yourself! I have prepared a private album for your viewing please here in Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/gp/ricopfirstinger/6y60X7

The album features SOOC JPEGs and their Lightroom equivalents of all 15 film simulations that are available in the X-Pro2. You can click trough the album and see direct comparisons of both versions.

Thank you for constructive insight. What about the speed?

Hi Rico, is the colour profile for RAW files on the X-Pro2 like the X-Pro1 or more like the X-T1? I prefer the more natural X-Pro1 look. Thanks!

I think it’s mentioned in my First Look that X-Processor Pro and EXR II appear to share the same look. If not, I apologize for the oversight. This is obviously important to users who want to use an X-Pro2 alongside other current models like the X-T1, X-E2 or X-T10.

    Hello, Rico!
Do you know if they updated the accuracy of simulations for previous cameras too? I have an X-E1, and this would really speed up things for me.
    Thanks!

I don’t think so. Didn’t see any difference so far. Did you?

    Hello!
Though I could´nt find an answer anywhere, I try it this way:
Is there a way to use my Lightroom 5.6 with the X Pro 2?
    Thanks so far!!

You need Lightroom 6.4 or higher. The DNG converter alternative is not recommended, as you will lose important metadata information and compatibility outside of the Adobe universe. So either upgrade to Lightroom 6 (ca. 70 EUR) or consider a CC subscription with LR/Photoshop for about 10 EUR/month.

That´s what I suspected, but nowhere found that clear-so thank you very much.
So it will be the upgrade obviously…
